Versenia Johnson, known to many as “Tiny” was born on June 23, 1952 to parents Eugenia and John Edward Johnson in New York City. Her soul was called to rest from her home on February 23, 2024 at age 71 joining the afterlife with those she loved dearly.
In her early years she graduated high school with honors and in her adult years pursued higher education with the Queens Education Opportunity Center. Before retiring, she was a home health aide providing care and support to those in need. Versenia had a big personality and kind spirit, adored by others and adopting the title “Ma”, “Sis” and “Auntie” from those who loved her. She loved to sing, dance and deeply enjoyed horror movies and suspense thrillers. Friend to many, Versenia will be truly missed.
Cherishing her memory are: her children Iesha Bowens, Rochon Johnson and Sha-Dey Gayles; grandchildren, Iyana Johnson, Akasha Martin and Jordan Shambo; extended loved ones by choice, Bernadette Bell and family, Montressa “Monney” and the Washington family, Keith and the Gayles family, Paul and the Robledo/Hernandez family, Cheryl and Kenny Johnson Rayner, and her partner “Prince” who was with her until her final days.
“When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life in a manner so that when you die the world cries and you rejoice.”
