Dorothy Perry Perkins, affectionately known as Aunt Dot, peacefully passed away on March 30, 2024, at the age of 98, surrounded by loved ones at St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, NY. She was born on March 21, 1926, in Lumberton, North Carolina, to Jesse (Senior) and Estelle Perkins and joined in eternal rest by her siblings Riley Perkins, Ethel Mae Oxendine, John Perkins, Gertrude Wilson, Minnie Cooper, and Jesse Perkins, Jr.
Aunt Dot made a significant impact as a compassionate Registered Nurse at Kings County Hospital for 30 years, dedicating herself to caring for others until she retired to pursue private-duty nursing. Her kindness and empathy touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of love and care.
In the early 1970s, Aunt Dot moved to Brooklyn, NY, where she continued to thrive and make lasting connections within her community. She embraced her new home with warmth and openness, becoming an integral part of the fabric of Brooklyn.
Easter and Christmas were Aunt Dot's favorite holidays, and she reveled in decorating, cooking delicious meals, and entertaining her loved ones. Her joyful spirit and love for creating memorable moments will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Aunt Dot is survived by her niece Wanda Leonard (Earl) and her great-nephews, Marc Butler (Leichelle), Franklyn Butler, and Anthony Anderson (Neshell), along with her great-niece Connie Butler-Williams (Jimmy), all of whom were raised like her own children. Their bond of love and support enriched Aunt Dot's life and brought her immeasurable joy.
Aunt Dot's life partner, Seth Holley, shared in her joys and supported her through life's journey. Together, they created cherished memories that will be treasured by their family and friends.
